CHIP Programs

Meet with a CHIP Counsellor to discuss your concerns and be guided on the most appropriate pathway for your child. 

This service is designed to cater for parents who may have concerns or questions about their child of high intellectual potential.

Are you concerned:

• that your child is not meeting his / her potential?
• about your child’s social interactions with his / her chronological or intellectual peers?
• about whether or not your child should be accelerated. What are the implications?
• about improving your parenting skills?
• about your child’s mental health?
• about when your child should start school?

These are only examples of common parental concerns. If your circumstances are not defined above, please contact the office for further information.

What are the advantages of an Assessment? Do you think you would like an assessment but need help in reaching a decision. 

A Standard Consultation will allow you to speak with a specialized professional who will guide you in making decisions about your child.

Counselling charge -  1 hour $150

This service is available to parents whose child has had an assessment and who wish to discuss the findings in depth. A CHIP report is most comprehensive but can often suggest strategies or offer new insight into your child that you would like to explore further.

These assessments have usually been conducted by CHIP, but increasingly we are seeing parents who have had assessments performed elsewhere, and are confused with the feedback they have received. In this event, it is suggested that parents provide a copy of the report prior to their appointment, allowing time for interpretation and analysis.

Follow-Up Session - 1 hour $150

 

 

You may be thinking about changing schools because you are dissatisfied with your child’s current school, relocating, or making the transition into secondary school. A well informed and qualified professional will help you decide which school would best suit your child. It is important to discuss the child’s individual needs before offering any schooling suggestions.
